Description
The Fabric & Design
A two-piece set made with the classic sányán aso oke, crafted from quality woven Aso oke fabric, a quiet nod to the rich textile traditions of West Africa. The top features a short fitted silhouette with a flower motif represented on the center with spaghetti straps. The mini skirt sits high on the waist with clean, tailored seaming for a modern finish.
The inspiration
You know that flower.
You have always known that flower. It lived in the margins of every notebook, the back pages of every scrapbook, the corners of every desk. No one taught it, it was just known. Passed quietly from hand to hand, class to class, school to school, like a secret language that every secondary school student around me somehow already spoke.
The brown and white are the colours of those walls, those classrooms, that time. End of term energy, scrapbooks, noise, laughter. And somewhere in all of that warmth, a girl with her head down, shading that flower for the hundredth time, completely at home.
This piece is that memory. The flower finally lifted from the footnotes and placed where it belongs – at the centre of something to be seen. The colours of the classroom, the pattern of a shared childhood, worn now as something to celebrate.
For everyone who drew that flower. You know who you are.
Sizng and Styling
The Yetùndè piece is more of a playful casual set and can also be styled to suit any occasion.
Its true to size.
