A detachable halter neck strap dress, crafted from quality woven Aso oke fabric in earthy brown, teal and peach, a quiet nod to the rich textile traditions of West Africa. The structured bandeau top sits firm against the body, giving way to a fringe-layered skirt with cascading floor-length fringe that moves with every step. The dress snatches on the waist with clean, tailored seaming for a modern finish.

The inspiration

There was a stream behind my grandparents’ house.
Small, quiet, unhurried. The kind of place that only children know how to find. The sandy floor ran peach and warm beneath the water, and along its banks flowers grew in every colour — unbothered, unplanned, simply there. My cousins and I would wade in, cupped hands ready, chasing the tiniest fish you have ever seen. We caught them carefully, kept them lovingly, willing them to live. They never made it past two days. We tried every time anyway.
What no one tells you about a stream is that it only looks like it flows in one direction. Watch it long enough and you see the truth, the contours, the folds, the small rebellions of water finding its own way within the current. One body, many directions. One memory, many colours.
The teal is the weed like flowers and plants along the bank. The peach is the sandy floor. The browns are the stones, rock and earth that held it all together. The fringe is the flow, loose, cascading, alive. The fringe patches are those contours, the places where the stream paused and folded back on itself before moving on.
Every colour on this fabric is a memory. Worn together, they are a childhood summer that never fully ended.
