A dress set featuring a free striped top in  aso oke, deep navy blue  with a keyhole detail at the chest and subtly pleated sleeves. The tiered ruffle skirt detail is crafted from a rich green and nude botanical adire print, with three generous layers that move and bounce with every step. The stripe and print fabrics are brought together by a structured waistband that anchors the whole look.

The Inspiration

My grandmother had a farm.

Not a large one. Not a commercial one. Just enough, because that was her way. The farm never failed her. Season after season, it gave what the family needed, and then a little more, because there was always something to send to the neighbours. That kind of quiet abundance.
Plantain trees standing tall at the edges. Vegetables in rows, some for eating, some for healing, some whose names I only knew in Yoruba. Mango trees, lime, pawpaw, pineapple, fruit growing so casually you forgot it was extraordinary. Everything green. Everything alive. Everything quietly, faithfully producing.
The sky above that farm was always blue. The kind of blue that made the green look greener. I do not know if that is true or if that is just how memory colours things, but that is how I see it every time.
The navy and sky stripes of the top are that sky. Open, constant, unhurried. The green on the dress is the plants and trees that makes up the farm and the nude on the ruffle skirt is the farm beneath it, lush, layered, abundant. The three tiers of this skirt are the layers of a plantain leaf, the way they moved in the breeze, the way the whole farm seemed to breathe.
She never asked the farm for more than it could give. And it never failed her. Not once.

This piece is for her, my grandma, Foláshadé. And for every woman who tends something quietly and faithfully, trusting it to give back in time.
